Why a Cynics and Skeptics page?
Because I wish to honor as much as possible the various attitudes these new (old ) science products will attract.
Whilst the internet is obviously a medium that has and will continue to change the world, the removal of person to person contact also removes the myriad of cues we subconsciously and consciously use to appraise levels of trust, levels of bonding etc.
Of course there are many, many products out there promoted as the “be all and end all”. Many are promoted by folk who are not even passionate about the product they are selling. Many using sleek sales copy based on years of marketing and psychological research. All in the name of earning a buck and a fast one at that. They, knowingly or not, take advantage of humans ( customers ) innate trait to seek out information or products that match their desire. That’s fair and makes sense but often the product does not stack up but the money does. You don’t always need loyalty when the web brings you the worlds population.
How is this relevant to Watershed1 products?
Because the very nature of them and the science behind them will be refuted by many and when one refutes something we usually need to back that up with a reason.
For some reason we humans are not comfortable residing in a mindspace of just not knowing or not knowing but acting anyway to honour curiosity.
So, many will either conclude that I am a fraudulant snake oil peddler (Skeptics) or will dismiss the logic behind the science of imploded water and the attraction of ether (Cynics)
Obviously I am comfortable with this but feel the need to at least share a few thoughts which may help some experience another way of seeing things:
- I 42 yo. I am over working without passion. It so happens I am passionate about water, the Vortex Energisers and Jewellery range.
I, like most of you, must contribute to my family income.
Ask yourself this.
Why would I choose to sell products that I know many will find weird? If money was my sole motivation why would I do this? I’d sell mainstream commercial stuff for sure. Given the above, my customer base will be smaller than mainstream products. That means I will need loyalty for repeat sales.
How could I nurture loyalty if I sold a product that didn’t work?
How?
- New Science ( Old Science). It is not my intent to convince people. That is naive and non serving to me and you. It is my intent, with the absence of knowing your thoughts, to suggest some basic logic that may resonate with you.
Science evolves.
Evolution implies change.
Change implies what was old was either wrong or less true than the new way.
What if, at every stage of science we did not accept the new discovery?
You may feel this - ” Yes, but Western Science is credible, has proven methodology, is the only way…..” Look up any subject relating to science and you will find disagreement amongst THE scientists. So who’s right. Who’s wrong or less right?
The degree of long term methodology in Western Science has much to do with to what extent certain “players” must accept accountability for their actions if things go wrong. So, prescription drugs includes the manufacturers, governments, doctors and the users.
Whereas a lone Western Scientist creates a new biofuel and runs his car on it. Is this mans science less than the drug companies all because his discovery applies to a car not a human?
Is a discovery less so because mainstream Science won’t accept it across the board?
Don’t think so.
How many scientists must agree to make something acceptable to society?
I don’t know.
Do you?
Is it the government scientists? Is it the peak body? Don’t know.
Of course I am not suggesting anything should be accepted without ‘proper’ inquiry. I am suggesting that we should be far more accountable for our own decisions and use our own logical minds as to what experience/product we want in our lives.
Blind acceptance of Western Science at the expense of the huge amount of less known science does not serve us well at all.
Why is it that increasingly our world is looking back at the traditional ways of health, of community, of how mother nature works?
We are in the wonderful position now of knowing what doesn’t work which takes us closer to what has been true all along. Slow learners for sure but lets be positive about it. We now integrate new discoveries with old truths.
The polarity between old and new sciences is declining. Science, art, metaphysics all melting down to what is - life.
Our slow path to ’seeing’ the truth about nature and its workings has much to do with our inquiry process. The Western approach of dissecting things to prove’ beyond doubt’ is slowly being questioned because so much of nature is a working whole that to dissect is to create half truths or just plain different ones.
Our inability to sit with mystery yet still use the mystery to our benefit has denied us of much. The Watershed1 products allow some mystery yet with a truth behind it we just haven’t,on a mass level, learnt of yet.
The corporates.
It’s Ok, I’m not going down conspiracy theory here, just logic. Lets take paper as an example.
Here in Australia we still clear old growth forests. Take a look at our land from the sky and you’ll see the devastation we have thrust upon our mysterious and beautiful land. Whilst its not pretty its understandable. Our forefathers did what they thought was right.
But what of now?
We know the impact it has on our land, our rivers, our water quality and quantity, our agriculture. Still we log, whilst also knowing there is an alternative - Hemp. This is not hippy stuff here.( no offence Hipsters, just clarifying my stand). Hemp is a proven alternative and by no means a lesser one. In fact far greater in its uses than wood.
Why is this? Is it about saving Jobs? Politics? Money? All of it I would say. Money the main one. No government would dare take on a corporate giant over this.
My point is this. Science is one thing. The motivation and implementation of science is another. There are many other reasons why something new is not engaged with by the masses and very often it has NOTHING to do with whether the new science works or not.
